The Pickwick papers V.D.L.edition; Pp.[iii] (lacking the half-title page) - xii+588, lithographic frontispiece, vignette title and 18 plates, publishers's slip tipped-in at front; nineteenth xcentury black morocco boards, the edges decorated in blind, rebacked with ealry black calf spine laid on, spine decorated in gilt around five raised bands, with gilt lettered red leather title label, early endpapers, followed by later binder's blanks, signature and date (1858) on the blank preliminary, tiny inked correction to one word of text p.47
