The grand match for the championship of the Australian colonies and two thousand pounds. | Won by Mr. G.T. Rowe's chesnut [sic] gelding 'Veno' (Higgerson) bred in New South Wales, beating Mr A. Chirnside's grey mare ' Alice Hawthorn' (Mahon), bred in Victoria; three miles, over the Melbourne race-course...on the 3rd October 1857.
