Ethel Spowers and Eveline Syme

National Gallery of Australia Curator of Australian Prints and Drawings Sarina Noordhous-Fairfax has written an illuminating study of the lives of artist printmakers Ethel Spowers and Evelyn Syme. This is the first in depth study of the artists and reveals how their prints were both part of the arts and craft movement as well as the international modernist ‘Grosvenor School’. The book is profusely illustrated, most of the images being drawn from the rich holdings of the National Gallery of Australia which has been collecting their linocuts since the 1970s. The book accompanies an exhibition that will travel Australia during 2021-2022.
