ART UNION OF VICTORIA. – We have re-
ceived copies of the two presentation plates
of the Victoria Art Union for the season
They represent a view of Melbourne
from near Richmond, and a sketch of a scene
on the Lerderderg, drawn by Louis Buvelet
and engraved by Samuel Calvert. The im-
pressions are not quite so clear in parts as
they might be, otherwise they are artistic
and highly creditable as colonial productions.
The Society under whose auspices they are
issued has for its aim the praiseworthy one
of promoting a knowledge and love of the fine
arts in Australia, and for endeavouring to
effect so desirable an object it deserves en-
couragement.
