OBITUARY.
MR A. J. SCOTT.
Mr Arthur John Scott, at one time proprietor of the business of S. T. Leigh and Co.,
whose death took place at a private hospital in Darlinghurst on Saturday evening;
arrived from Melbourne in July, 1880, and joined the staff the firm of John Sands as
a lithographic artist. A few years later he entered into partnership with the late Mr. S,.
T. Leigh, lithographer, of O'Connell-street, which business was carried on under the
style of S. T. Leigh and Co. About a year later Mr. Scott became the sole proprietor,
and considerably extended the business, from which, in 1911, he retired.
On his retirement Mr. Scott interested himself in pastoral pursuits at Moree and later
acquired the property known as Compton Downs, Hughenden, North Queensland. He
was 62 years of age.
After a service at St. Stephen's Church on Monday afternoon the funeral took place; at
the South Head Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, a son, Mr. A. J. Scott, of
Compton Downs, Hughenden, North Queensland, and a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Lorajn, of
Colombo.
