LODESTAR GALLERIES
Taken Over by John Young.
Mr. John Young will take over the Lodestar Galleries in Rowe-street next month, as an addition to the Macquarie Galleries in Bligh street, which he manages at present.
The Lodestar Galleries were established by Miss Stella Scroggie last year, with the object of enabling the public to see a permanent exhibition of pictures by contemporary Australian artists. The galleries were then In Elizabeth-street. The change to Rowe-street was made in March.
Mr. Young said last week that his acquisition of a second gallery would not interfere with his present policy of holding one-man shows by various artists at the Macquarie Galleries. At the Lodestar Galleries, he will carry on Miss Scroggie's idea of a permanent exhibition in a section of the premises. The remaining rooms he will devote to special exhibitions for short periods. He mentioned an Interesting collection of old engravings.
