DOMESTIC INTELLIGENCE
WATER COLOR DRAWINGS BY MR. S.T. GILL. - We have been much pleased by a sight of some very well executed drawings by Mr. Gill. Most of them refer to South Australian scenery, and are the result of sketches taken by the Artist when accompanying the ill-fated Horrocks on his North-western expedition from Mount Arden in 1846. Among the sepias are some which must meet with high approval from all who can appreciate their merit as works of art, and as truthful delineations of bush-life and scenary. Two of the pictures exhibited are highly finished water color drawings, the one representing Forest Creek, Mount Alexander, taken from the ‘Argus’ office, and the other a view of Eagle Hawk Gully, Bendigo. These two are in course of publication by Messrs. Macartney and Galbraith and the view of Mount Alexander will appear at the latter end of the present month.
