Abstract
PORTRAIT OF THE GOVERNOR
At a meeting of the Civil Officers held at Government House, this ninth day of November, to take into consideration the best means of obtaining a portrait of his Excellency Sir Thomas Brisbane it was resolved that the meeting consider it preferable to have a painting of his Excellency executed in New South Wales, on account of the risks and delay attending the transmission of one from Europe, and with a view to combine a resemblance of His Excellency with a monument of the progress of the fine arts in New South Wales, under his Excllency’s administration.
It was further resolved as the sense of the meeting, that the Lieutenant Governor, the Chief Justice, and Deputy Commissary-General Boyes be requested to act as a committee to carry the object of the meeting into execution.
And that as soon as the expenses can be ascertained, an assessment be made by the said committee, and the subscribers requested to pay the amount of their subscriptions to Mr Boyes.
