A man named Sly, an excellent engraver, is at present under commitment on the testimony of an approver, that it was he who cut the plate, and that another man named Jones was concerned in passing away 75 of the notes. Sly has therefore been committed to the forgery and uttering, and Jones for passing the forgeries. The utmost extent to which the forgery has been carried, we are glad to hear, has not exceeded 75 pounds; and the plate, was so miserably executed as to leave little probability that the enterprising firm of Cooper and Levey will suffer much Loss by the transaction. We think 79 impressions were struck off, but on the counterfeits were destroyed by the makers.
