MR. FERNYHOUGH. – We have been much amused with several caricatures on stone by Mr. Fernyhough, amongst which the drum-major of the 50th, who is so remarkable for the enormous size of his hat, is admirable. Mr. Fernyhough is a person of considerable talent as an artist, and is deserving of more encouragement from the public than he has hitherto experienced. We hope, to use the appropriate language of Shakspeare, [sic] that he will cease β€œto put a strange face on his own perfection,” and endeavour to turn his talents to a profitable account. Merit is always modest, it is said and we fear that Mr. F. has too much modesty for Australia.
