Abstract
Mr Earl’s panorama of Sydney, we understand was exhibiting, according to the latest accounts, in London, where it excited a wonderful degree of interest, and may be the means of drawing a considerable number of respectable emigrants towards these shores. In spite of the prevailing depression, the New South Wales Act, and the land regulations, people of moderate expectations, and moderate capitals, in our opinion may do far worse than back over to New South Wales. But the worst of it is, people, generally speaking, expect too much, and are consequently disappointed by first appearances; whereas, for people with moderate ideas and prudent management, New South Wales infinately preferable to the Canadas, physically though perhaps not politically.
