COLONIAL LITERATURE. - The New South Wales Magazine for the present month is a decided improvement on the previous numbers;. The first article is on the state of the Colony, and is founded on some letters which appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald, last year, under the signature of Jason; there is a great deal of truth and sound reasoning in this article, particularly with respect to Crown Lands, but we regret to observe a hankering, although the writer is ashamed to avow it, alter protective duties; when next we write upon the Free Trade question we shall have to notice this article, which, from the facts it contains is well worth reading. The principal feature, however, in this number is the introduction of three lithographed views of public buildings in Sydney, with brief descriptions, and it is we believe the determination of the proprietors to continue the views. The views in the present number are St. James's Church, the Roman Catholic Cathedral, and the New Government House. This will make the Magazine an excellent present for friends in England.
