Charles Bush

Born in Melbourne, Victoria 23 November 1919, Charles William Bush studied at the National Gallery School, Melbourne from 1934 to 1938. He was an official war artist between 1943 and 1946. In London on a British Council Grant in 1949 he worked with Meninsky, before travelling around Europe. Bush returned to Melbourne and became Drawing Master at the National Gallery School 1953-54. In 1962 he founded the Leveson Street Gallery in Melbourne. Bush was well known as a painter and gallery director. He produced only a few prints, mostly linocuts and monotypes.
