THE FINE ARTS. - Eight oil paintings in gilt frames, and twenty two of the fine lithographic views of Hobart Town, from the drawings of Mr. Ball, have been put up to public competition by lottery at Mr. Basstian's Hotel. The oil paintings comprise a large view of the city taken from Swan's Hill, and a smaller one taken from the same point, a large and small view of the Huon, taken from the Springs, Mount Wellington; a view of Hobart Town, taken from the River Derwent, and a view of the river from Kangaroo Point. There are also one large and one small English painting. The terms of subscription are two sovereigns, the number of subscribers sixty, and the list of prizes has been so arranged that thirty of those will come in as winners.
