Full text

We yesterday received a copy of the first of a series of lithographic views which will be published tomorrow, by Mr. E. Gregory, of George-street. The recent fire in Queen-street is the subject selected by Mr. Gregory, and certainly great justice has been done to it by the artist who sketched it, and by Mr. Ham, the lithographer. The picture represents Queen street as it appeared from Stewart and Hemmant’s corner, southwards, at half-past eleven o'clock p.m., and underneath is a list of the names of the occupiers of the various tenements which wore destroyed. Being printed on foreign post paper, the "Illustrated Letter" can be transmitted through the post at the same rate as au ordinary letter. We congratulate Mr. Gregory upon the success of his first attempt, and hope it will be acknowledged in a substantial manner by those who are desirous of sending to their friends in England an able sketch of the scene presented in Queen-street during the largest conflagration which has been witnessed in Brisbane.
