1973 1975 Diploma of Fine Art, Preston Institute of Technology. (Now R.M.I.T.)

1976 1980 Tutor in Painting and Life Drawing, La Trobe University Melbourne

1979 1980 Studied for Bachelor of Arts (Art History and Music) at La Trobe
University. (Deferred studies after 2nd year.)

1995 Diploma of Travel Photojournalism from Sydney College of Journalism

2000–2002 Working towards Masters in Painting at Ballarat University, Victoria, Australia (transferred
Masters to Monash University)

CAREER:

1981 Travelled to Europe (Italy and Greece)

1981-83 Gardener at Heide Park & Art Gallery for John and Sunday Reed (Melb)

1982 Returned to Europe exhibited paintings in Italy

1984 Artist in the Community Hawthorn City Council, Melbourne

1985 Travelled to London, Rome and Paris. Organised and presented an
Exhibition of 'Three Melbourne Artists in London', Peter Kilby,
Anthony Malone and Adrian Kerfoot at Victoria House, London

1986 Travelled to New York, Italy and the UK. Invited to exhibit painting at
The Brompton Gallery, London

1987 1988 Lived and painted in Rome under the auspices of an Italian
Government Scholarship
 

1989 Arts Administrator with Heide Park, & Art Gallery in Melbourne
between May and August

1990 Lived and painted in Rome; preparing for exhibitions held in February
and May

1991 1992 Returned to live and work in Melbourne

1992 1993 Re settled in Rome and continued painting for European galleries.
Established 'Personal Tour Adviser and Guide' service

1993 1994 Returned to Melbourne to re establish painting career in Australia.
Worked P/T for the Wesley Mission and the Helping Hand Association with
the aged and young adults with intellectual disabilities

1995 Returned to Rome and established a new studio and started work, on
the series titled 'The Great Universal Themes of Human Existence.'
Developed more fully the 'Personal Tour Adviser & Guide' service,
with a client base that covers the USA, Australia & New Zealand.

1996 Continued work on the above series. Opened an office in Rome's centre
to administer the 'Tour Guide' service more effectively. Employed on a
free lance basis to co ordinate the shooting of a documentary on Rome
by TV3 New Zealand in association with Cathay Pacific. Pieces from
the new series found their way into a number of private Italian
collections through studio sales. First contact with Enzo Cucci and the
Galleria Arte Modern in Rome. Travel & Historical articles began being published in
newspapers & magazines in Melbourne, London & the States.

1997 Returned to Melbourne with a collection from the above series and
successfully arranged a private viewing in association with Di Jackman
in April. Returned to Rome to continue developing 'Tour Advising'
service, and travel writing.

1999 Shot a pilot program with First Light Productions, directed by Iain Gillespie

2000 Moved my home to southern Tuscany (Montepulciano) and based my studio
and work from here.
 

2001-2002 Began to develop Perfect Traveller Pty.Ltd, and formed a company as one of three Directors.
2003 Approached by Gavin Disney to do research and TV program content for a project in
conjunction with the BBC and ABC (Aust) on Food in History.

Currently writing several television scripts on subjects that include the life and times of
St.Francis of Assisi, Caravaggio, Julius Caesar and Machiavelli. Working in conjunction
With Ron Cohen, Director of Out of the Blue Productions, PA, USA. It’s hoped that these
Scripts will form the basis of a new television series to be produced in the USA.

2004 In April travelled to Philadelphia and was screen tested by Out of the Blue Productions
for the Walking in the Footsteps TV series for which P.K. is the writer and presenter.

2005 February; teaching Italian Renaissance History to Year 12 students at St.Catherines in
Melbourne, Australia. April; will present Rome’s history to a travelling group of Year 12
Students from St.Catherines in Rome.

March; will participate in a group exhibition of paintings at the Helen Gory Galerie in
Melbourne, Australia.

November; accepted into the Ordine Nazionale dei Giornalisti, Italia.

November/December; Writing, filming, editing a DVD TV film on the story of St.Francis
of Assisi & Casanova.

2008 March lectured in art, Roman & Greek Classical Studies, Italian Medieval & Renaissance
History at Xavier College, Melbourne, Australia

In August invited to return to Australia to give a series of Master Class lectures at Scotch
College, on Roman history and the history of Medieval and Renaissance Italy.

2009 Employed as a freelance writer for Rome.info (Rome, Italy) writing commissioned stories
on the history and great personalities of Rome down through the ages. Developing
content for Perfect Traveller Pty. Ltd.

From 1979 to 1987 Peter Kilby undertook P/T assignments in television and theatre while still continuing his career as an artist, along with a considerable mount of travelling He worked as a Scenic Artist/Designer for GTV9 Melbourne; as Stage Mechanist with the State Theatre (Victorian Arts Centre); the Australian Opera Company; the Australian Ballet Company; the Alvin Alley Dance Company; the Sydney Dance Company; the Melbourne Theatre Company, and as Assistant to the Props Master of the Bolshoi Ballet.
