GRANTS AND RESEARCH

1993 University research grant to research the history of the Tin
Sheds Art Workshop, University of Sydney. Conducting interviews with artists and community for publication of a book titled ’Under a Hot Tin Roof’ in 1995 to mark the 25th anniversary of Tin Sheds.

1988 Community Arts Board grant with Community Child Care Co-op
to produce a series of prints about current issues in child care.

1984-85 Visual Arts/Community Arts Board and NSW Ministry for the
Arts grants for 12 months part-time residency with the
Newcastle Printmakers Workshop.

1980 Visual Arts Board Grant for six months artist in residence at

1996 Curator and manager of 'Affinities' an exchange exhibition of

Manager of A R Penck exhibition from Germany, curator A van Ogtrop. Successfully applied for funding through the Goethe Institute.

1995 Curator and manager of 'Java to Gepps Cross' by Carol Ruff.
Toured throughout NSW and SA. Successfully applied for funding through Visions of Australia touring program.

1994 Manager of Tin Sheds 25 year anniversary exhibition 'Under A
Hot Tin Roof' with Jan Fieldsend as curator.

1993 Co-curator and coordinator of 'Current State - Future Directions'
a selected exhibition of current printmaking practices at the Tin Sheds Gallery in November 1993. As well as a series of ongoing workshops specialising in the adoption of non toxic printmaking methods and the training of teachers and artists in these techniques.

1990-96 Member of the University of Sydney Student Union Art
Collection and Acquisitions sub-committee.

1992-95 Coordinator and manager of the RAPTS project (Regional
Access Program at the Tin Sheds). This program employed a consultant to research the possibilities of this type of project being situat4ed on the campus at the University of Sydney. Funded by the Australia Council VACB Project Development Grant. The first f these exhibitions was held in 1993 with the director of Broken Hill Gallery devising a touring exhibition for the Tin Sheds with the work of two aboriginal artists from Moree and Broken Hill.

The next exhibition in the series was with The New Agency from Lismore, a group which describes themselves as agents instead of artists who will produce another group exhibition.

1991 Coordinator and manager of the 'Watch This Space' public
billboard space on the side of the Tin Sheds Gallery. This project required a curator (Jeff Gibson) and the involvement of the Tin Sheds Gallery Exhibitions committee. It was funded by the VACB of the Australia Council and South Sydney City Council.

1991 'At Least It Has Gone To A Good Home: women collecting and
producing art at Sydney University 1971-91'. Co-curated with Joan Kerr, assisted by Sue Best and Bronwen Hanna, an exhibition about patronage of women's art as part of the feminist Dissonance Project in NSW.

1990 Exhibition and tour manager for Jo Spence, visiting British
photographer. Coordinator of curatorial and public relations team. Funding acquired by previous director from Australia Council.

1987-96 Member and executive officer of the Tin Sheds Gallery
Exhibition Committee, University of Sydney.

1985 Curator for 'East End - Before and After', Newcastle Regional
Art Gallery, Catalogue Essay and 23 artists statements for catalogue, audio & video taped documentation and slide presentation.

 

RESIDENCIES AND TRAVEL

2003 Artist in Residence at Bundanon NSW for 6 weeks.

1998-01 Travel to France and Holland to research locks and canals for work on The Floating Studio’ exhibition and ‘The Lock’ series.

1996 Self-funded travel to France to research residential studios and
printmaking workshops.

1993 Self-funded travel to US. Washington, to research models for
history of artist run collectives and organisations. Washington Project for the Arts, National Artists Associatin, Black Mountain College research as a model for the book 'Under A Hot Tin Roof'.

1988 Artists-in-community with Community Child Care Cooperative,
liaising, researching, designing and printing three of a set of six posters about current issues in child care in Australia.

1985 Guest artist in ANZART Auckland of 1985 in New Zealand.

1984 Artist-in-residence, Newcastle Printmakers Workshop and
Director of the project 'East End - Before and After'. Responsible for research, liaison, specialised workshops and production of original prints for exhibition.

1983-84 Self-funded two months visiting and researching in New York,
Washington and Vancouver, for background material for East End project. WPA Historic American Buildings Survey research.

1980 Artist-in-residence at Queensland Film & Drama Centre for six
months in etching studio at Griffith University, Queensland.
