John Robinson

Born in Melbourne in 1940, John Robinson studied graphic art at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology from 1961 to1962. Although he produced and exhibited paintings, Robinson is primarily a printmaker. He works in linocut, wood-engraving, etching and lithography. Robinson was involved in establishing and running the lithographic printing workshop, Drukma Press, from 1977 to 1983 and ran his own press, Lithos Press, from 1983-1988 where he printed editions for many well-known artists.

From 1962 Robinson participated in numerous group print exhibitions including international and Australian print exhibitions such as 12 Melbourne Printmakers, Oxford University, UK 1982; the Bicentennial exhibition The Face of Australia; and MPAC Print Biennale, 1990. He worked as an external assessor for many painting and printmaking courses at tertiary colleges in addition to lecturing in printmaking and in photography at several tertiary institutions in Melbourne.
