Bernard Slawik
Bernard Slawik was born in Gliniany, Poland, in 1904 and studied architecture and art at the Politechnique, Lwow, from 1923 to 1930. In 1948 he arrived in Australia and established himself as an architect in Melbourne, designing residences, blocks of flats and industrial buildings between 1952 and 1969. He also designed the Caulfield Arts Centre, built in 1953. Slawik was introduced to lithography by Stanley Jones at the Curwen Press in London in 1976. Since 1973 he has produced a few etchings, most recently working with John Loane at the Victorian Print Workshop.
