Charles Sidebotham Gould

Born in England on 2 August 1910, Charles Sidebotham Gould was a student at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London, where he studied wood-engraving under Noel Rooke, etching with S.P. Robins and lithography with Spencer-Pryse. In 1930 he studied for a few months in Berlin. Between 1930 and 1935 he executed a few etchings and drypoints. He moved to Australia in 1935 where he drew political cartoons for the Sydney Morning Herald as well as doing design work and painting. He returned to England 1946-50 and studied philosophy and psychiatry. In about 1954 he acquired a press and produced etchings and over two hundred lithographs. He died in 1992.
