OBITUARY
MR V. E. COBB
Mr Victor Ernest Cobb, one of Australia's most noted etchers and artists, died at his home in Brunswich rd, East Brunswick, yesterday. He was a colleague of many of our most famous artists, including Sir Lionel Lindsay and the late Sir Arthur Streeton, Sir John Longstaff, and Mr Harold Herbert, and to develop his own specialised craft of etching he devised his own instruments and printing press. Many of his etchings have served as motifs for Christmas cards which for many years have been familiar to the public, and his etching of State Parliament House, Victoria, was hung in Westminster Hall, London. He served in the Boer War, and his great-grandmother was the first white woman to land in New Zealand. Mr Cobb, who was aged 69, is survived by his widow and one son, Mr Lindsay Cobb, named after Sir Lionel Lindsay. The funeral will leave Josiah Holdsworth's parlour. Carlton, for the Melbourne General Cemetery at 3.30pm today.
