David Rose

Born in Melbourne in 1936, David Rose graduated from the University of Melbourne with a B.Sc. (Forestry) in 1959. In 1960 he began a full-time career in painting and printmaking in which he is largely self-taught. In 1964 he studied etching at the Escuela Lonja, Barcelona.

Rose works extensively in serigraph and occasionally in woodcut. By 1993 he had held over 40 solo exhibitions. Between 1961 and 1993 he held a number of group exhibitions, largely with private galleries (Greenhill, Adelaide, Editions, Melbourne), as well as touring international exhibitions such as Australian Etching, PCA travelling exhibition, 1978; and Contemporary Australian Printmakers, Tokyo, 1984.

Rose taught part-time at the National Art School, Sydney from 1967 to 1974; Alexander Mackie CAE from 1975 to 1976 and at the North Shore Art Workshop.
