Abstract
MR. W. B. COATES. Mr. Willis Benjamin Coates, who died at his home, 3 Etham-avenue, Darling Point, on Sunday evening, was the youngest son of the late Mrs. Rohu, who was one of the partners in Tost and Rohu, curio dealers. Mr. Coates assumed the management of the business many years ago, and retained control until ill-health compelled his retirement some years ago. He was recognised as an expert on Island customs. In his early days he was a noted diver, and won a number of championships. Mrs. Coates and two daughters survive. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, when the remains were interred in the South Head cemetery. The Rev. T. F. Naughton was the officiating clergyman.[Sydney Morning Herald, 16 August 1932, page 8, column 3].
