Multicultural Artworkers Committee

Established in 1985, the Visual Arts Studio is an open access community workshop space within the Multicultural Artworkers Committee. It is a studio space where community groups can use experienced personnel to develop their publicity and documentation, and develop projects which relate their common experiences and realities. Some of the collective projects realized are We helped build Australia, culminating in a screenprint exhibition, and A Bitter Song: Two Cities, Two Cultures, a multi-media exhibition integrating community screenprints onto painted panels forming an environmental streetscape. Current projects include a women's craft project incorporating some graphics and Artists Against Racism.

The Multicultural Artworkers Committee is assisted by the Community Cultural Development Unit of the Australia Council and the South Australian Department of the Arts. These projects have been assisted by the Visual Arts Crafts Board.
