Galley Press was established by Ron Edwards and Barry Tutt in 1950. Edwards became interested in printing as a student at Swinburne Technical College, and together with Tutt studied with John Kirtley at his press at Ferntree Gully. There were three imprints: Galley Press (1950-52), Rams Skull Press (1952-59), for fine printing (often illustrated with linocuts) and Edina Press for commercial products. They produced books, prospectuses and greeting cards.
