Jacqueline Hick

 

Born in Adelaide in 1919, Jacqueline Hick studied at the South Australian School of Art from 1935 to 1938 and at the South Australian Teachers College, 1941. She studied in Europe from 1949 to 1951, at Central School, London, and at Léger Studio, Paris.

From 1942 to 1946, Hick taught at the South Australian School of Arts and Crafts. She taught with the Adult Education Department of the University of South Australia from 1958 to 1962.

Primarily a painter, Hick worked on textile printing from 1947 to 1948 and made occasional etchings and lithographs up to1959.

Hick’s works are represented in the National Gallery of Australia as well as in most of the state galleries of Australia. Many regional galleries and tertiary institutions also hold her work, in addition to London Guild Hall, the Mertz Collection, USA and the Raymond Burr Collection, USA.
