Florentine valley: Displaced landscape.

This is a large diptych image 3m x 1m which just about takes me all year to make. I spend almost a week painting up some of the stencils. There is a small edition of five with several proofs. The print represents the end of the development taking place through several years work. A combination of long hours of printmaking and layering of screen ink. Material into form, colour and idea.

The image is organized around the remaking of a Hydro Electric Commission sign placed on a new road into the south-west of Tasmania. It is a painted sign with signs of wilderness exploitation, illuminated by car headlights and the sun is setting in the background; an element of nostalgia for a more innocent time.
