Born in Chicago in 1929, Charles Reddington studied at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1950 to 1954 where Max Kahn taught lithography. In 1950 he moved to Melbourne where he lectured at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology from 1959-1960. He moved to Adelaide in 1960, teaching at the South Australian School of Art from 1960 to 1963. In 1963, he moved to Sydney and taught there as well. Primarily a painter, he made occasional lithographs and serigraphs. While in Adelaide, he also made his first etchings.
