Mervyn Street

Mervyn Street is a member of the Gyniyandi people, one of the small language groups of the Kimberley, Western Australia, who for many years lived at the Margaret River station near Halls Creek. He was born in 1950 and like a lot of the artists from this area he is just as adept at carving designs on Boab nuts as he is at linocut printing. His work was featured in the Broome Fringe Festival and is in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia and the Berndt Museum of Anthropology at the University of Western Australia.
