Robert Mast

Robert Mast was born on Waiben (Thursday Island), Torres Strait in 1976. He learnt art from his parents and grandparents on Badu (Mulgrave Island) and started to paint and carve traditionally when he was in boarding school at Saint Augustine’s College, Cairns in 1989. After completing an Access Course at the James Cook University, Cairns, Robert decided on further study and gained entry to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Visual Art Course at the Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE, Cairns and in 2000 completed his Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts.
