LITERARY THEFT. - Mr. Barlow, the talented and highly respected lithographer, of Bridge-street, brought an action, on Saturday last, against a man named Baker, of King-street, in the Court of Requests, to recover the sum of £30, for damage suffered by him, in consequence of the defendant having made a spurious copy of the lithograph of the Mayor's Ball. The case was argued at great length by. Mr. Nichols, for the plaintiff, and Mr. Dillon for the defence; but his Honor the Commissioner, decided that it being a matter of unliquidated uncertain damages, the Court could not entertain it, but he reserved the point for judgment, as to whether the British laws of copywright were applicable to this colony.[Parramatta Chronicle. 23 November 1844, page 3]
