Notes
This is a final state proof.Shown RCA Degree Show 1980; Shown Gallery 52,'81 "This print is about the statue of Prince Albert opposite the Royal Albert Hall and the RCA. Some one told me it was designed to go on top of the Hall but they changed their minds. I was struck by how much it resembled Rodin's Thinker. It's also a parody about the different kinds of monuments eg a big rock like Stonehenge or a statue like Albert's Memorial. Both are monuments. Also it makes a reference to the nature of the two monuments. The rock is very physical (softground etching) and hand engraved. The little engravings around the side of the plate are actually engraved onto the monument...".
