Production notes
This lithograph is closely related to the oil painting 'The fruit and vegetable market, Nice' c.1927, in the Kerry Stokes Collection. For the lithograph Carrick has cropped the composition at the top and bottom to form a more rectangular image (in keeping with the proportions of the paper). The foreground of the lithograph is simplified to a number of silhouetted figures looking onto the market. [RB 1987].
