Production notes

'A pressing question', was published as the Christmas colour supplement to the Australian Illustrated News, 1874. The print engraved on wood by Samuel Calvert, was produced after an oil painting by Henry James Johnstone (1835-1907) titled 'Wooed and won', that was exhibited at the Victorian Academy of Arts exhibition of 1874. The painting was offered for sale in 'Australian History Collection: Paintings, drawings and prints from 1820-1890, Sydney: Day Gallery, 2019.
