Production notes

Preston and her friend Gladys Reynell lived in the house in the foreground on their summer excursions to Ireland in 1914 and 1915. The house is identified with a X on a postcard that Preston sent to the Aotearoa New Zealand artist (and former student), Edith Collier. (Collier papers, Sarjeant Gallery, Wanganui, Aotearoa New Zealand)

Inscriptions or device by artist or designated agent

signed lower right below plate-mark in black pencil, 'Margaret R. Preston'.
not dated.
titled lower left below plate-mark in black pencil, 'Bonmahon / Ireland'.
inscribed lower left below plate-mark in black pencil, 'drypoint'.
Note: these inscriptions have been changed or added over time. The signature originally read, 'Margaret R. McPherson'. The McPherson has been erased and replaced with her married name 'Preston'. The inscription 'drypoint' is from a different pencil and in a different style of writing and was probably added later.
