Production notes

The City of Adelaide looking S.A. looking south-east, a lithograph by Samuel Calvert, was first issued as a free supplement to subscribers of the Monthly Almanac and Illustrated Commentator, of April 1850. Drawn from nature and lithographed by Calvert, it was probably printed by Penman & Galbraith. An advertisement notes that it was printed on ‘fine drawing paper’ 18 x 12 inches [about 46.0 x 30.5 cm]. Non-subscribers could purchase an impression for 2s 6d. A related watercolour by Calvert is in the collection of the Art Gallery of South Australia (772HP13).
