"INURAU THONARNU" is in "KALA LAGAW YA" meaning time of darkness. Kala Lagaw Ya is the language of the mid-western islands in the Torres Strait. In the midst I show the figures of my forefathers at sea travelling at night using the stars for navigation.The boo shell is blown to aware canoes nearby or people at shore that a home canoe is entering the islands harbour. The stripes represents the passing of knowledgement, the young of the Torres Strait were well taught to follow the footsteps of their ancestors." Artist: Alick Tipoti 94.
