Production notes
This image exists in at least two alternative forms. the earlier version, 'Pears (silver version)' from 1970 (IRN: 34294), is etched heavier than the later version, 'Pears version no.2' from 1971 (IRN: 49157). In at least two catalogues: Holloway, Lindsay (1983), and Kolenberg, J (1997), it is not clear which version they are refering to. In the case of Holloway/Lindsay, the picture they refer to as 'Pears (Silver Version)' (cat.61) is visibly inscribed on the work with 'Pears version no.2....George Baldessin 71'.
