Published to coincide with 'A report of the expedition to Port Essington' (revised and corrected by the learned explorer) together with a large map of that section of New Holland', published at the Office of the 'Australian Journal'. (The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser, 2 May 1846, page 3)

The 'Australian' 21 May 1846, page 1, provided a list of where 'Leichardt's Profile by Rodius' could be purchased and noted its price as 'two shillings'.
