Biography
Ewart Gallery.
'The Ewart Gallery is housed within the Willoughby Arts Centre.
Named in honour of WAC’s founder Joy Ewart, the Ewart Gallery was officially opened in 1996 by artist John Coburn. The purpose of the space is to encourage and stimulate interest in art in the local and wider community and to support and promote the work of emerging and established artists.
The gallery holds exhibitions in a wide range of styles and media showcasing student and teacher work throughout the year. It also features several external exhibitors throughout the year.
Each year the gallery hosts the Ewart Art Prize open to all members of the Willoughby Arts Centre. This is a major event in the Ewart Gallery calendar and forms part of a strong tradition at the Willoughby Arts Centre.
Proposals to exhibit at the Ewart Gallery are accepted at the WAC. The Ewart Gallery has 30 running metres of hanging space with professional lighting and hanging systems. Over many years the WAC has supported arts in the community. Exhibiting at the Ewart Gallery is available at very reasonable rates.
The Ewart Gallery is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient under Subdivision 30-B of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. All donations of $2 or more to the Ewart Gallery are tax deductible.'
