Abstract

Israeli artist and designer Michal Fargo’s Else is a project dealing with the gaps between craft and design. Exploring the idea of authenticity in ceramic surfaces, the artist presents a series of free-form sculptures that literally invert traditional ceramic-making practices. Created using sponge models dipped into especially composed porcelain mix then fired, the objects eliminate the need for moulds and manifest the techniques of their production in the strange new surfaces offered.
