Abstract

A body of work informed by environmental concerns. The conceptual approach to Burness' work involves placing metal etching plates out in the elements for a period of time and then printing the marks created by nature having eroded, rusted and scratched at the plates. Burness uses multiple plates in the one work resulting in beautiful, subtly layered etchings that create landscape imagery, and record the passing of time and the movements and flow of the natural environment.
