Abstract
A diverse group exhibition, including secondary market investment work by Pablo Picasso, David Boyd, Albert Tucker, Brett Whiteley, David Bromley and selected works by gallery and invited artists, including Dr Lisa Anderson, Mimi Jaksic-Berger, Peter Cameron, Yong-joo Marbot, Brendon Mogg, Lynn Baird, Tim White, Annabelle Josse Personeni and Matt Bromhead among others.
'RED SCROLLS' is a series created by Dr Lisa Anderson while undertaking an artist-in-residency at REDGATE Studios in Beijing earlier this year. The images explore the understandings of RED.
RED is a symbolic and emotive experience, the double edge of double happiness, the wrapping on spirit chasing fireworks, the flags that dominate the public spaces and the borrowed red star of Russia on every tourist Mao Zedong cap.
RED stretches across the histories of China. A long splash of blood and a copious wrap of the best silk.
Modern China gives us RED as all of this as RED calls 'look at me'.
