Abstract

Engaging Visions: Your Place in Fine Art, brings together artwork inspired by four Engaging Visions Research Project (EV Project) Field Study programs that took place in the Murray Darling Basin between 2007 - 09 in St George, Qld; Tumut, NSW; Riverland, SA; and Benalla, Vic. These programs, convened by the Environment Studio, ANU School of Art, involved students, visiting artists, staff and alumni. Several artists resident in the field locations joined the programs. The ANU School of Music Contemporary Music Ensemble participated in the Benalla Study.

The EV Project evaluated Field Studies as a tool for facilitating the engagement of artists with Basin communities to visualise the environment as fine art. The evaluation component was undertaken by the ANU Centre for Public Awareness of Science. In all, 63 artists took part in the EV Project and contributed to exhibitions that concluded the Field Study programs.
