Abstract

The exhibition Post Modern Kids celebrates the recent efforts of Years 3 and 4 children at St Thomas More's Primary School Campbell ACT. The children learnt the printmaking processes of lino cuts and created images of significant meaning to their lives. Under the broad topics of person, place, animal or thing, the children created drawings and then developed prints from the drawings. The children have expressed their ideas and responses to their travels, their pets and the things they love. The exhibition runs from 19 to 28 February at Megalo Print Studio in Watson.

Marcus Cataldo made a lino cut of Mt Etna and says,”When I was thinking of what to do I was thinking about Italy... I looked up Italy in the library and found a picture of Mt Etna. My dad and Nonno and Nonna are from Italy and I want to go to Italy one day.”

Also to be exhibited is a copy of Jackson Pollack's masterpiece Blue Poles created by Year 1 and 2 children. People have often suggested that their seven year old could paint Blue Poles, and in this case they actually have!

The lino prints and Blue Poles is show at Megalo Print Studio Gallery in Watson and opens at 6pm on Thursday 19th February 2009. Exhibition runs until Saturday 28th February 2009 and gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday 9.30am to 5pm. Enquiries call 02 6241 4844
