Abstract

"Handle me gently is a work in progress for me, each animal/toy is based on my daughters Maya drawings, I follow the basic shape, then add the 3 dimensional element by using steel wire and allowing the wire to create and take its own shape"

By overlapping the steel wire and following each line and curve the animal toy arrives at its unique shape. The wires are welded together and before covering the armature with foam for softness I add the handle for easy access/handling/control.

Using numerous collected woollen blankets I cover each foam covered object with one chosen blanket and load it even further with the meaning of warmth, love, protection and hiding behind some cover.

The toys/animals become laughable in their colourful attire, stupendous in shape and size"
