Abstract

In November 2008, Northern Editions printmakers Gertjan Forrer and Jacqueline F. Gribbin travelled to the art centre at Gununa on Mornington Island to collaborate with the artists.

These etchings represent the artists first foray into printmaking. Their fresh and contemporary style has translated magnificently into the print medium with striking results.

Artists Emily Evans, Reggie Robertson and Joyanne Williams are from Mornington Island the larger of the two islands. Sally Gabori, Netta Loogatha and Paula Paul are from Bentinck Island a twenty minute flight south.

These vibrant and beautiful etchings represent the world through Kaiadilt and Lardil eyes capturing the colours of the sea and it’s life as well as the flora and fauna of these artists country. [Gallery media, 2009].
