Abstract

In the last decade printmaking by Australian aboriginal artists has emerged as a dynamic force in contemporary Australian art. Traditional artists such as Johny Bulun Bulun have traveled to print workshops in the eastern states to produce screenprints or to the Canberra School of Art to produce lithographs, linocuts and etchings. There are some artists such as Bunduk Marika and the Indulkna women who work independently. Political posters are being produced at Garage Graphics and some city-based Koori artists who have studied at art schools are also producing prints. This is the first exhibition to bring together these diverse and exciting new prints.
