Abstract
Since the turn of the century an increasing number of Australian artists looked, not to the old world but to the new world - the United States to study and work. All the artists in this exhibition established significant reputations in the United States. Yet without exception they continued their dialogue with their Australian counterparts through visits, exhibitions and publications - thus enriching the cultural life of both countries.
Artists include Frank Nankivell, Robert Emerson Curtis, John Richard Flanagan, Hayley Lever, Ambrose Patterson, Mary Cecil Allen, Horace Brodzky, Miles Evergood, Anne Wienholt, and Margaret Cilento.
