Abstract

This exhibition consists of highlights of British prints from the collection of Australian artist printmaker Ron McBurnie. Most of the prints in this exhibition have particular relevance to McBurnie's own printmaking practice.

McBurnie has selected works for the exhibition that reveal something unique about a specific ouvre of printmaking - British prints reveal a history of society and art as seen through the eyes of different artists over a 300-year period. The exhibition includes works by William Blake, Samuel Palmer, Edward Calvert, Seymour Haden, Walter Sickert, Gerald Brockhurst and Frank Brangwyn. The exhibition also contains examples of McBurnie's own prints, revealing the influence of British prints on his practice as an artist and a teacher.[exhibition PR]
